Swine Flu Epidemic - Can We Keep Our Schools Open?

The Center for Disease Control announced a potential fall flu immunization campaign that may involve making an unprecedented 600 million doses of the Swine Flu vaccine available to the public.  “This new infectious disease is not going away,” said Schuchat, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.  A national outbreak of the Swine Flu could have a tremendous impact on our nation’s schools. Just days after this report, President Obama reminded us that “Solutions to America’s challenges are being developed every day at the grassroots”.

The H1N1 (Swine flu) epidemic may have an impact this fall on our nation’s K-12 schools.  This has one small company in Las Vegas concerned to step forward to make a difference. An online educational alternative is being made available to our K-12 school districts. Distance Edu Learning, Inc. located in Las Vegas, Nevada and developer of the premier distance learning software, Fintelo, is generously offering the use of the software at no charge for the nation’s K-12 (public and private) schools forced to close due to the H1N1 flu epidemic.

The Company, developed by educators whose values are deeply rooted in education will offer free access to a limited number of schools (K-12, public and private) facing closure.  Schools or districts interested in participating in this free program will find detailed information regarding the software and this program at www.fintelo.com or they may call the office at (702) 240-2877.

Jim Pulliam, President and CEO, of Distance Edu Learning, Inc. said of the program, “we believe in our educational system and want to do everything we can to support educators and students during what some are predicting to be possible epidemic. Fintelo is intuitive and easy to use while incorporating learning and teaching theory. Fintelo is a practical solution even if for only a few weeks until the schools reopen; students may continue their studies rather than falling behind in their school work”.

If schools want to explore the possibility of continuing to use Fintelo after the immediate need has passed the Company provides the software at an affordable rate for school districts. With outstanding technical and customer support, the software offers a full learning management system.

When asked why the Company is willing to provide Fintelo for free, Jim Pulliam said, “It is not about the money for us.  Our organizational culture is centered on the way students and teachers connect with the focus on student learning.”
